RCP troubleshooting

RCP troubleshooting

RCP Manager 2 is created to be sturdy, bug resistant and easy to use. It is made to automate as much as possible, however it is still possible to manually correct its inadequate behavior.

Cases when RCPm copy is invalid

Current version is 2.3.0.0, if you have any other, you either have old copy or you got some kind of crap instead of RCPm.

File size is incorrect. Current versions weights 42 496 bytes. If size is different, you got some kind of crap instead of RCPm.

You can check program version and its byte size in file properties - details tab.

Checksum is incorrect. Only RCPm2.exe files with following cheksum are valid:
MD5: c19d1f35e9cfc94b21be80993f898a62
You can check checksum on Online MD5 website.
RCP release post contains MD5 checksums for download packages.

Executable files with incorrect checksum/size are extremely dangerous, delete on sight. And run full Anti-Virus scan without connection to any kind of network just to be sure.

I do not release any part RCP for download outside of this blog (anymore).
This page is only source of RCP.
Do not trust any third-party download mirror. Never. Tomorrow I will add checksums for installation packages as well.

What you must never do

0. Never download RCP using links not posted on this blog. If you need another mirror, please post your suggestion in comments. Have in mind that file hosting for RCP must allow big files (as for now, at least 2.5GB).
1. Never pay for RCP. It is free, and always will be. Due to usage of original World of Tanks files, which are intellectual property of Wargaming, any attempt to charge for RCP will not only be unethical, but most probably a crime as well.
2. Never trust that anyone, except me (PTwr of NA server), works on RCP. As for now only I make it, any third party claim to RCP is a scam.
3. Do put full trust into any information that is not supported by material on this blog.
4. Do not rely on blog entries marked as obsolete. They are marked as such for a reason.
5. Do not trust anyone claiming to be me (PTwr) unless it is on:
WotLabs forum - PTwr
WoT NA forum - PTwr
WoT EU forum - PTwr
WoT RU forum - PTwr
WoT SEA forum - PTwr
This blog - PTwr and RCP
As of writing this post, it is full list of accounts I use when it comes to RCP related content. I can not, and will not, vouch for validity of RCP-related information coming from sources outside of this list.
6. Do not take RCP-related information from Wargaming staff as granted. I do not work with, or for, Wargaming. RCP project is not affiliated to Wargaming at all. If anything, I am closer to conflict (mostly with new NA moderating team) than partnership with them.
7. Post question before searching for answer.

What not to do

1. Do not install RCP in directory with existing files.
2. Do not attempt to force old compatibility packages into current RCP release. Only those listed in release post will work.
3. Do not grant elevated privileges (admin mode) via UAC prompt. RCP Manger does not require it to work, at all.
4. Do not touch files in RCV and RCE directories.

Error messages

Since Update #1 RCP Manager can display several error messages.

Incorrect game location - Automatic detection of WoT location failed. You can fix it in Pro Mode

RCV core missing - RCP was improperly installed. Please follow RCP release post for installation instructions.

Pro Mode

RCP Manager comes with Pro Mode. You can enable it by pressing key combination CTRL+DELETE while in RCP Manager utility. It will display additional panel on bottom of window.

Pro Mode have following elements:

Two text fields:
Primary path - it should be location of current World of Tanks installation (host for RCP).
Secondary path - it should be location of RCP installation. By default it will be location of Manager executable file, which will be correct value if you followed instruction in release post.

"Select" buttons next to them will show dialog window for easier selection.

Several buttons:
Create RCC - do not touch it. It will create series of .zip files from all directories contained in Primary path. (It is meant to crate RCC packages).
Setup RCP - touch it after inputting correct Primary and Secondary paths. (Which is what RCP Manager does on start-up).
 It will:
- create correct paths.xml
- create start-up .bat files
Autodetect Paths - click it to enable automatic paths detection. Which, unless disabled, is default start-up behavior of RCP Manager.
Remember manual Paths - click it to save current paths, they will be loaded back in your next session with RCP Manager.
